Dave Grohl, Rob Halford, Lemmy, Alice Cooper confirmed for Ronnie James Dio Tribute Album

This. Is. Going. To. Be. Awesome. \m/ \m/

Ronnie James Dio’s widow, Wendy Dio is compiling a tribute album for her late husband with some rock A-listers. Dave Grohl, Rob Halford, Alice Cooper, Lemmy, Sebastian Bach, Ian Gilligan and Glenn Hughes have comitted to be a part of the compilation which should see the light of day by the end of the year. So far, Grohl has comitted to covering the Sabbath classic “The Mob Rules” and Halford will be doing the Rainbow song “Long Live Rock ‘N’ Roll.” Everybody else has yet to pick a track to cover. The album will raise money and awareness for Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund. Dio tragically died of stomach cancer in 2010.

On a personal note, I’ve been mistaken for Ronnie more than a few times throughout my years in the industry, even signing an autograph for a drunken patron at a bar in Toronto. He was so sure I was Dio, and my negative responses only fueled his belief that, of course, I would be, I just didn’t want to cause a scene, and would you just pllll-eeeee-eeeeea-aaaasseeeee sign this napkin. So I did. Years later, I eneded up working with Ronnie and he was cool with this action, as long as it wasn’t a check.
