Happy 70th (!!!) Birthday to Carole King

Singer/songwriter Carole King is 70 today. King and her former husband Gerry Goffin wrote more than two dozen chart hits for numerous artists during the 1960s, many of which have become standards (examples: “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” first recorded by The Shirelles, “The Locomotion” sung by Little Eva, and even songs for The Monkees). As a solo performer, King had an album, Tapestry, at the top the U.S. album chart for 15 weeks in 1971, and it remained on the charts for more than six years. Billboard Magazine named her the most successful female songwriter of the second half of the 20th century, because she wrote or co-wrote 118 pop hits on the Billboard Hot 100.
