A pirated version of The Iron Lady that takes some rather absurd liberties with the script is making the rounds in Russia, where the dubbed version has received a positive review from at least one of the country’s top film critics.
Just what type of artistic license are we talking about? For starters, Meryl Streep’s performance as Margaret Thatcher has been dubbed over in monotone by a man. Oh yeah, and the pirated version shows “Thatcher as a bloodthirsty, Hitler-admiring leader, whose fondest desire is to destroy the working class,” in the words of the paper.
