Chicago police have arrested a south suburban man who allegedly hid about 2,500 pounds of marijuana inside more than 1,000 containers of frozen strawberries.
Martin Rosas, of Dolton, Ill., was charged with possessing more than 5,000 grams of cannabis after police discovered the marijuana-stuffed strawberries in the man’s rental truck which, suspiciously, was not refrigerated despite the claim that it was being used to transport the frozen fruit.
According to NBC Chicago, police say the marijuana is estimated to have a street value of $6.8 million and had been destined for area street gangs.
