Sir Paul McCartney has fronted a Nirvana reunion at a fundraising concert for the victims of Superstorm Sandy in New York.
The former Beatle introduced Nirvana’s surviving members, Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear, to the stage in Madison Square Gardens during his own performance.
After a quick story about “jamming” with a few guys recently, McCartney said it dawned on him that he was “in the middle of a Nirvana reunion.”
“The penny finally dropped that I was in the middle of a Nirvana reunion,” he said, before introducing the band.
It was be the first time the surviving members of the grunge band have played together in 20 years.
The performance did not see McCartney try his hand at Nirvana classics such as Smells Like Teen Spirit or Lithium, however, instead, they premiered a new bluesy song, Cut Me Some Slack, that they had been secretly working on a song, Cut Me Some Slack:
