Toronto’s JAZZ.FM91 announced the launch of a new film series “Fridays and a Flick”.

Toronto, Ontario (January 28, 2013) – JAZZ.FM91 announced the launch of a new film series “Fridays and a Flick”. The series will feature a selection of documentaries and Hollywood films highlighting jazz artists, history, and culture.

Kicking off the series on February 1st, and in celebration of Black History Month, JAZZ.FM91 will present “Giants of Jazz” featuring: “The World According to John Coltrane”; “Lady Day: The Many Faces of Billie Holiday”; “Louis Armstrong: Satchmo”; and “Thelonious Monk: Straight No Chaser”.

Looking back and toward the future, the series features award-winning producers and directors who shine a light on the world of jazz and pop culture. Each month features a theme to unify the presentation. The weekly screenings will include a brief introduction by a JAZZ.FM91 personality, with discussion and a “Q and A” following. Tickets will be made available to JAZZ.FM91 listeners at no-cost, with advance invitations to JAZZ.FM91 donors. Screenings take place each Friday of the month at Noon in the Theatre at JAZZ.FM91.
