Statement on the passing of Paul Gourlie, The Agency Group

Every rock star or touring band has a champion behind them. Paul Gourlie of The Agency Group was that person for many, many bands in Canada. He treated every day as a joy just to be alive longer than anyone expected, or hoped, and he was one of the true music fans and good guys around. He will be deeply missed. Below is the statement from Jack Ross, Senior VP of The Agency Group.
– Eric

Paul Gourlie a beloved member of our Group died this morning, May 10, 2013.

Paul was afflicted his entire life with Cystic Fibrosis, a disease that took his life today. Paul was almost 37 years old and he was told that his CF would kill him before he was 20. He was very proud to defy the odds.

Paul joined us at TAG Toronto in 1999. Colin Lewis brought him to Ralph and I, we immediately hired him and so began one of the most inspirational relationships of our lives. You see Paul knew how precious life is and he strived to make the most of every day. He inspired everyone at our office with his will to live and appreciation of life. Paul loved being an agent, he loved working with artists and he loved putting on shows.

He is survived by his wife Amber, his parents and many, many friends and clients. Funeral and Memorial arrangements will be announced soon.

Thank you.

Jack Ross
