Back in March, the Go-Go’s parted ways with longtime bassist Kathy Valentine, citing “irreconcilable differences.” This split is turning out to be anything but amicable, as Valentine has now slapped the band with a lawsuit over her stake in the group.
In the complaint, which was filed on Friday, May 24 in Los Angeles Superior Court, Valentine claims that she is a one-fifth member of the band’s business entities, Ladyhead LLC and Smith-Pocket Industries, Inc. Since her departure, however, the band have created a new entity called GoGoCo Corp., thereby depriving her of her 20% share. This allegedly reduces her stake to just 2%, according to the lawsuit. She’s now seeking damages of over $1 million, with the exact number to be determined at trial.
