From The Daily Nonpareil:
It sounded like a relaxing evening: Take a stroll across the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, then sit down and listen to one of their favorite bands at the newly opened Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park.
But it didn’t turn out that way.
Judy Leinen of Denison was sitting in the back row with her husband, Larry, watching the Beach Boys perform when a buck leaped over the railing and hit her on the way down.
“All of a sudden, I looked over and she was lying on her face on the ground,” Larry Leinen said. “She was knocked unconscious just temporarily.”
The impact bent her aluminum-framed lawn chair “in half,” he said.
There were people lined up behind the 4 foot-high railing watching the concert, but the buck “cleared all of them and came down on her,” he said.
“She was shaken,” Leinen said. “So was I. She had no idea what hit her.”
