Jason Blaine, Deric Ruttan win SOCAN songwriter award at 2013 CMAO Awards

The Country Music Association of Ontario Awards 2013, Toronto, Canada

Deric Ruttan and Jason Blaine won the SOCAN-sponsored Songwriter of the Year award at the inaugural edition of the Country Music Association of Ontario (CMAO) Awards, held May 27, 2013, at the Markham Theatre in Markham, Ontario.

The duo won for co-writing the hit “They Don’t Make ‘Em Like That Anymore,” for which Blaine – who recorded the song – also earned an honour in the Single of the Year category. Ruttan also won a second award, Album of the Year, for Up All Night.

Other award winners included Kira Isabella (Female Artist of the Year), Johnny Reid (Male Artist of the Year), The Stellas (Group/Duo of the year) and a tie between Autumn Hill and Lindsay Broughton (Rising Star).
