Jack Johnson, Daryl Hall & John Oates, and Yo Gabba Gabba are among the big names confirmed for the Sept. 21-22 Life Is Good Festival, a family-friendly event which raises funds for a good cause. Organizers expect to draw more than 30,000 “fundraisers” to the show at Prowse Farm in Canton, Mass, with a goal to raise more than $1 million for children’s charity the Life is Good Kids Foundation.
Superfly Presents, the producers of the Bonnaroo and Outside Lands fests, have again partnered on this year’s two-day event, which will host three stages, arts activities and kids’ areas. Other artists lined-up on the bill include the Roots, Amos Lee, Dawes and Trampled by Turtles.
The core aim of the fest, organizers note, is to create a community of fundraisers. Ticket-buyers are directed to a personal fundraising page, where they can raise sums for the foundation. Each festival-goer who raises at least $500 are dubbed VGPs – Very Good People; and they’re rewarded with backstage hospitality, preferred viewing vantage points, meet-and-greets with the artists and other incentives.
