The annual Nova Scotia Music Week festival will be crossing the Canso Causeway for the first time, Nov. 7-10, and festival organizers are confident the Sydney event will be a memorable one.

“We’re excited,” said Jennifer Currie, chair of the Cape Breton Music Industry Co-operative, which put in the bid to secure the event for Sydney. “We think it will have a real impact on the economy of Cape Breton — it’s coming in November and we’re hoping to have 1,000 delegates — and we also think it will have a positive effect on the music industry.”
Nova Scotia Music Week is Music Nova Scotia’s signature event, an annual festival that features more than 100 artists performing on multiple stages over a four-day period. Until 2006, Nova Scotia Music Week always took place in Halifax, but since then has been staged in various regions of the province. Last November, Liverpool hosted the event.
