2013 Mercury Prize Shortlist Released

A significant year for musical creativity and excellence is confirmed by the 12 Albums of the Year shortlisted for the 2013 Barclaycard Mercury Prize.

This year’s shortlist celebrates a fascinating year for British and Irish music, marked by a wonderful range of musical voices – urgent, reflective, upbeat and tender, acoustic and electronic, and all with something intriguing to say.

Last year’s winner was Alt-J’s debut album, An Awesome Wave, while past recipients include the likes of Primal Scream, Portishead, PJ Harvey, Arctic Monkeys and The xx.
