From Lowell Sun:
WILMINGTON — In a low-turnout election Saturday, political newcomer and town “Good Guy” Steve Bjork won a seat on the School Committee.
He’ll join incumbent Ginny Bonish, who was re-elected with 795 votes. Bjork topped the ticket with 880 votes, while fellow challenger Donna Leone came up short with 309 votes, according to unofficial totals.
Though this was Bjork’s first bid for elected office, he has a long history of involvement in town. He won Wilmington’s annual Good Guy award in 2013 for his service to the community, including membership in the Wilmington Rotary Club and the Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library’s executive board.
School Committee member Leslee Quick did not seek re-election, opening up a seat on the board to a newcomer.
