Katy Perry has been presented with yet another award in her record-setting three-album career, and this one might be the most-worthy to her. The Recording Industry Association of America named Perry its highest-selling digital act in the history of Gold and Platinum awards in a ceremony at Washington, D.C.’s Verizon Center. Keep in mind that digital singles and albums are fairly new in terms of the music industry, but these sales numbers are hugely impressive.
Perry currently boasts 72 million digital singles to her name, counting downloads and on-demand streams. She is the first artist to surpass 70 million and is currently 20 million ahead of any other artist. Her catalog contains 18 Gold, 16 Platinum and 56 multi-Platinum digital single awards.
