Donny Osmond serenades Miss Universe contestants in 1979 with Steely Dan’s ‘Peg’

In the holiday tradition of the “Osmond Family Christmas” television specials, the legendary Donny and Marie invite you and your family to celebrate the spirit of the season in true Osmond fashion. With a dash of Christmas spirit and their trademark show-stopping production numbers, Donny & Marie Christmas in Toronto features Christmas songs and cheer plus hits from their illustrious careers all mixed with their irresistible chemistry that made them international stars.

It’s a great time, then, to look back when Donny Osmond in 1979 was hired to sing a medley of four recent pop hits to the five finalists of the Miss Universe beauty pageant, a medley that starts with Steely Dan’s “Peg” (off of 1977’s Aja) and then segues to Wings’ “Goodnight Tonight” (non-album single), The Commodores’ “Three Times a Lady” (1978’s Natural High), and Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely” (1976’s Songs in the Key of Life).
