Rafael Melandi, a reative director at an advertising firm in Sao Paolo, Brazil, and an avid metal fan, has done something so amazing, it’s a surprise nobody’s though of it before. He’s taken classic heavy metal albums, and redesigned their cover art with an eye towards those old jazz albums we love to look at. You know the ones – those Impulse and Blue Note Records covers that look so cool, so hip it hurts. Meladi’s reinvention of these major albums gets to poke us to re-imagine these head bangers as bucking the trend of what we know, verses how we would perceive these bands had their covers looked differently.
