Deconstructing The Beatles Returns To Toronto For 2 Shows

The JAZZ.FM91 Thinkers Series is back, with the return of composer/producer Scott Freiman and his multi-media presentations “Deconstructing the Beatles” for two unique events covering two different eras of the Beatles’ storied career.

On Thursday, February 19th, Toronto’s Jazz FM 91.1 will present Yeah Yeah Yeah! Deconstructing the Early Beatles, focusing on the early days of the Beatles’ storied career. In the late fifties, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Richard Starkey were just four Liverpudlian teenagers who picked up guitars (or drumsticks) and decided to play music. Within a few years, they would change music history forever. Tracing the birth of the group from their days as the Quarrymen to their first visit to EMI Studios, Mr. Freiman will deconstruct their first hit singles – from “Love Me Do” and “Please Please Me” to “I Want to Hold Your Hand”.

Then on Friday, February 20th, we will feature Tomorrow Never Knows: Deconstructing Revolver, where Freiman takes Beatles fans young and old into the studio with the Beatles as they create their seminal 1966 album – Revolver. With memorable songs, such as “Eleanor Rigby”, “Yellow Submarine”, and “Tomorrow Never Knows”, the Beatles pushed popular music to a place it had never been.  Using rare audio and video clips, as well as anecdotes about the creation of the songs, you’ll learn about the groundbreaking production techniques that went into producing this landmark piece of music history.

As with all of Freiman’s “Deconstructing the Beatles” presentations, you can expect great stories about the composition and production of the Beatles music, as well as a treasure trove of rare audio and video.

Both events will take place at 7:30pm at TIFF Bell Lightbox Cinema 2. Tickets are $22.50 each and can be purchased online HERE.
