SoundCloud partnership with Zefr suggests monetisation plans

From MusicAlly:

SoundCloud has partnered with Zefr to automatically scan user uploads for infringing content. The deal, however, is being sold as less about belligerent takedown requests and more about monetisation.

Zefr already does this for YouTube, with suggestion that a similar strategy will take hold for SoundCloud uploads – namely enabling copyright holders to make money from uploads rather than trying to zap them off the internet. The Zefr technology will let the platform fine filter uploads – be they full tracks or remixes – and deliver back analytics to artists and labels about the type of music uploads that perform best on SoundCloud.
