Jazz Legend Miles Davis And His Paintings

In the decades of 1940-60 Miles Davis unfolded into genius, so much great, and yet, so unappreciated to the point where he will likely be only one of a handful of music artists to truly be remembered 100 years from now. The trumpeter behind masterpieces as Birth of the Cool, Kind of Blue, Sketches of Spain, and Bitches Brew is unparalleled, but his remarkable achievements as a painter, is less known, even though he did the cover of 1989’s Amandla himself.

Last year, Insight Editions published Miles Davis: The Collected Artwork, showing people he could command the canvas as well as he did on the stage.
