The Most Famous Rappers to Smoke Weed

By Mitch Rice

Cannabis has been used for centuries for its medicinal properties. In recent years, however, the plant has become increasingly popular as a recreational drug. With the decriminalization of marijuana in many states and the growing acceptance of cannabis use, more and more people are using cannabis products.

The cannabis industry is now a billion-dollar industry, with hundreds of new products hitting the market every year. From edibles to vapes to literal science lab beaker bongs, leading retailers like Daily High Club have a product for everyone. And with the rise of social media, it’s easy to find information on how to use these products and where to buy them. With so many new cannabis products on the market, it’s no surprise that they are becoming more mainstream.

Whether you’re a fan of rap music or not, it’s hard to deny that some of the most famous rappers in the world are also avid smokers of marijuana. Smoking weed seems to be almost a prerequisite for being a successful rapper – just take a look at some of the biggest names in the industry! Here is a list of some of the most well-known rappers who enjoy sparking up from time to time.

Snoop Dogg

It would be impossible to have a list of famous rappers who smoke weed, and not include Snoop Dogg. Snoop Dogg, or Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, which no one ever calls him, is a proud cannabis smoker, and he certainly smokes a lot of cannabis. You might not believe it, but he has said that he smokes around 81 blunts a day.

Wiz Khalifa

Another rapper that can’t not be on a list about rappers who smoke weed is Wiz Khalifa. Wiz Khalifa, or Cameron Jibril Thomaz, whose professional name just happens to rhyme with reefer, is best known by many people by his song Black and Yellow. What you might not know is that Wiz Khalifa has a strand of marijuana named after him, and a game called Wiz Khalifa’s Weed Farm.

Redman and Method Man

The next two rappers are grouped on this list, because well, they are a group. Redman from Def Squad, and Method Man from the iconic group Wu-Tang Clan, came together to make many great songs, such as Blackout. Why are they on this list? Because in addition to smoking weed, they made a movie named How High, in 2001.

Curren$y

Curren$y, otherwise known as Shante Scott Franklin, is another rapper that enjoys smoking the bud. A fact that isn’t very well known is that one of his best songs, Covert Coup, was made because he and producer The Alchemist, both enjoy weed. They were both kicking back and smoking and decided to make that song. He has since moved away from smoking blunts and now enjoys a good old joint.

Kid Cudi

If you were to make a list of 5 rappers that smoke weed, Kid Cudi would be on it. Kid Cudi, or Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, is probably best known by most people for his song, Day and Night, which just so happens to be about stoners. However, what he is most known for is his ability to transport listeners to another level whilst listening to his music.

Smoke DZA

Rappers get inspiration for their professional names from many places, but Smoke DZA, otherwise known as Sean Pompey, literally named himself after a pothead character, Smokey, from Chris Tucker’s movie, Friday. In addition to naming himself after a character who smokes weed, he has made many projects related to cannabis, such as George Kush The Button, Substance Abuse, and Rolling Stoned.

Devin The Dude

One rapper that isn’t as well-known as the rest on this list is Devin The Dude, and this dude enjoys smoking cannabis. One of his most famous songs is about cannabis, Doobie Ashtray, and according to The Dude, he has been smoking cannabis since he was in the sixth grade. Some of his other projects are named Suite 420, Waitin’ to Inhale, and Acoustic Levitation.

Berner

The next rapper on this list, Berner, while rapping about cannabis, also did something quite different. Berner, otherwise known as Gilbert Anthony Milam Jr., got into the cannabis industry and has a few successful medical marijuana dispensaries. Some of these include  H2C Cookies 707, and Cookies SF, Collective Efforts. In addition to running medical marijuana dispensaries, he also has a hemp water product known as Hemp20. More impressive than this is that he has a series called Marijuana Mania.

Cypress Hill

Finally, the last entry on this list isn’t just a single rapper, but a group, Cypress Hill. The group managed to curate a following of people who enjoy cannabis, as well as hip-hop. They are famous for many great songs, but among them are Legalize It, Stoned is the Way of the Walk, I Love You Mary Jane, Hits from the Bong, Everybody Must Get Stoned, and more. If this list had a particular order, they would probably be near the top.
