But how will you know which rock bands were the greatest? Here you go.
1: The Beatles
This English rock band was formed during the 1960s. It comprised four members named John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. They are the musical legends who paved the pathway for future rock bands. No other band has been so influential in the history of rock music like The Beatles. Their record sales even crossed billions of dollars, and it was a big deal during that time.
2: The Rolling Stones
This band is one of the most classic ones in the line of rock bands, and people also call them the bad boys of rock music. This is yet another English rock band that was formed in 1962. The original four members of this band were Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts, Brian Jones, and Keith Richards. Their reinterpretation of American rock, blues, folk, country, and R&B has created a great soundtrack in the history of retro music.
3: Pink Floyd
Since their advent in 1967, this band has released more than 200 albums and has revolutionized the path of progressive rock. If there is one band who used light and fireworks in their live performance, it was Floyd. Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Richard Wright, and Syd Barrett were the OG members of this band. Potheads prefer this band’s music the most because, well, you have to be a pothead for that.
4: Eagles
These rock stars came much later in the game, specifically in 1971. Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Vince Gill, and Joe Walsh are the original members of this band. If Michael Jackson’s Thriller was the most successful song of the era, the Eagles’ album crossed that threshold. They managed to sell more than 38 million copies of their albums, and it was recorded on their own during that era.
5: Led Zeppelin
Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham are the legendary four members of this iconic retro band. This British rock band also came into the limelight in 1970, and it was a great start for them. This is probably one of those retro rock bands that explored diverse musical styles and found success everywhere. If you don’t know who this band is, just google ‘Stairway to Heaven’, and you’ll know what we’re talking about.
6: The Doors
Even if you don’t know which band this is, you must have heard of its lead vocalist, and that is Jim Morrison. Alongside Jim, there were also Robby Krieger, Ray Manzarek, and John Densmore in this band who helped ‘The Doors’ make a name for themselves in the retro-rock music industry. They also came under the limelight in 1960, but Morrisson is still considered one of the most charismatic lead singers.
7: AC/DC
This pioneering hard rock band sold more than 100 million albums worldwide, which was enough to set them on top of their competitors. The grunge vocals of Bon Scott & Brian Johnson accompanying Angus and Malcolm Young made the band pretty successful in their time. Even though it was developed in 1973, the band still organizes tours all over the world and still enjoys a houseful of audience.
