Writing an essay can be the most nerve-wracking part of your high school or college experience, but it doesn’t have to be! By following these 8 easy steps, you’ll be able to write the best essay possible in no time at all! The next time you need to write an essay, try using this guide first and see how much better it goes!
1) Think Through What You’re Going to Write
Think about what you’re going to write about before you start writing. The last thing that you want is to spend all of your time on a paper and then find out that it’s been rejected because it was not what the professor wanted. Make sure that you know exactly what your point is going to be when writing. This will save you from wasting valuable time. Now that you know what your essay is going to be about, make sure that you have the materials needed for it.
2) Pick a Good Title
Pick a title that will grab your reader’s attention and make them want to read your essay. In this step, you should also consider writing a catchy summary of what you are going to say. Finally, you need an introduction that gets right into your point or thesis statement. The second part is about coming up with good topic sentences for each paragraph. You have to have one main idea per paragraph, with some detail but not too much (a couple sentences at most). That way it keeps readers interested.
3) Brainstorm Your Topic
Brainstorming a topic is the first step to writing an essay. Write down all of your thoughts on a topic that you have strong feelings about. If you’re not sure what topic you should write about, there are many ways to find one. The easiest way is by looking at topics from previous essays you have written. What was your opinion on those topics? Why do you think that? Were those essays successful?
4) Outline Your Essay.
Outline your essay by writing a clear and concise thesis statement. You should have a general idea of what you want your essay to say about your subject, but don’t feel like you need to include every detail. Your thesis statement should provide enough information for the reader or listener to understand what is being discussed. After you write your thesis statement, it is best that you outline the rest of your points. This will help you organize the structure of your essay and make sure all of your thoughts are included. Start with a sentence about each point, explaining what will be talked about in this part.
5) Write an Introduction.
Write an introduction that captures your reader’s attention and give them a clear understanding of what you are about to write about. Be sure not to start with an I think statement or anything that sounds like you are trying to get the reader on your side. Always be open minded and curious about what other people might have to say. A good introduction should include these two elements: A thesis statement and an overview of how this essay will support it.
6) Write Body Paragraphs
Write Body Paragraphs. This is the most important step. You need to write three body paragraphs, and they must be well-developed, clear and concise. It is a good idea to outline what you will say before writing it. This way you can have an idea of what each paragraph will contain and that will make it easier for you to keep track of your thoughts while writing them.
7) Write a Conclusion.
Writing an essay can be a daunting task for a student who is not an essay writer. However, it is important that you do not get discouraged and give up. Remember that practice makes perfect. The more essays you write, the easier it will be for you to come up with topics and write about them persuasively. So don’t procrastinate and start writing your best essay now! This guide provides eight steps on how to write a persuasive essay. It also contains examples of great essays written by other students. Some tips on how to improve the quality of your paper are included as well.
8) Proofread and Check your Grammar
Check for spelling mistakes, and make sure your essay has consistent grammar. You don’t want to end up using your when you mean you’re. Review for errors by reading your essay aloud and paying close attention to sentence structure. If you find any errors, highlight them so that they can be fixed easily later on. Proofreading is a crucial step before handing your work in because it ensures that you don’t embarrass yourself with an error-laden essay.
