Five Of The Most Iconic Las Vegas Residencies Of All Time

By Mitch Rice

There have been dozens of huge names grace the stages of The Strip, from the Rat Pack to the world’s biggest DJs, but who makes our list?

Elton John

We love the Vegas life. The ability to go down from your hotel room and enjoy a game of blackjack, roulette or poker. You can take playing online casino games at Regal Wins to another level on the many casino floors offering high and low stakes play. However, even we don’t seem to love Vegas quite like Elton does.

For years he had his residency at Caesars Palace, with his The Red Piano residency grossing $203million and his The Million Dollar Piano residency bringing in $135million. Playing out all the hits, it’s an incredibly special place to see one of the greatest living artists and certainly goes down in history as one of the very finest residencies.

The Brit has called time on his shows in Las Vegas now to concentrate on his family life, and there will be millions of fans upset that they never got to experience it.

Elvis Presley

No artist is as synonymous with Las Vegas as Elvis Presley. You only need to see the amount of tribute acts and street performers dressed as him along The Strip to see just what he means to the city.

He performed there for many years but it was his residency at The International which resurrected a career that was beginning to flounder. He’d not performed regularly for a number of years before he took up the residency, opening the International Hotel and playing for four weeks.

It changed Las Vegas entertainment forever and he would go on to play over a hundred more shows at The International. Just what it meant to Las Vegas at the time though is brilliantly captured in this article by Time magazine.

The Rat Pack

Similarly, The Rat Pack were also responsible for completely transforming entertainment in Las Vegas. They were one of the true originals when it came to shows in the city, performing in the Copa Room of The Sands Hotel.

Sinatra, Martin, Davis Jr, Bishop and Lawford’s shows were iconic. Selling out every night with the men simply having a ball on stage, as friends, yet with unbelievable voices. There is of course the dark side to the Rat Pack, with associations with the mob, but that ultimately only enhances the legend and period in which they were taking to the stage.

Britney Spears

Like Elvis, Britney Spears’ Las Vegas residency felt like a chance to resurrect her career, and boy did she. The star spent four years performing at the Zappos Theater with her Britney: Piece of Me show, grossing $145million.

It won multiple awards and was attended by almost a million people across the 248 shows she put together, which included all the hits, like Womanizer, Oops!…I Did It Again, Toxic and Stronger.
