TOM JACKSON PRESENTS The Huron Carole – Angels Without Wings November 28, 2023 Rebecca Cohn Auditorium

Tom Jackson is a true Renaissance man, known for his multifaceted career as a singer-songwriter, actor, and dedicated activist. However, it’s his extraordinary philanthropic efforts that have left an indelible mark on the world. Since the 1980s, Jackson has tirelessly worked to make the world a better place, raising an astonishing estimated $250 million in cash and in-kind donations for food banks and disaster relief efforts. He has become a symbol of hope and generosity, using his talent and platform to effect change on a grand scale.

Now, Tom Jackson is set to continue his remarkable journey with an upcoming event that promises to be both heartwarming and impactful. On November 28, 2023, from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm, Jackson will take the stage at the iconic Rebecca Cohn Auditorium. The event, titled “The Huron Carole – Angels Without Wings,” is not only a night of music but a call to action. What sets this event apart is its inclusivity – with streaming access available following the live performance, Jackson ensures that people from all corners of the world can come together in support of a common cause. Tickets for the November 28 Halifax show are available now at www.dal.ca/artscentre or by calling (902) 494 3820 or 1-800-874-1669.

Produced by the non-profit Christmas & Winter Relief Association Inc., this event’s primary goal is to raise funds and awareness for the Canadian Red Cross’ Emergency Management Fund. This initiative reflects Jackson’s unwavering commitment to disaster relief and his belief in the power of collective action. “The Huron Carole – Angels Without Wings” is not just a concert; it’s a beacon of hope, a testament to the boundless compassion of one man, and a rallying cry for change. Tom Jackson’s legacy as a humanitarian, artist, and activist continues to shine brightly, inspiring us all to be angels without wings in the service of those in need.

Producing The Huron Carole – Angels Without Wings – live at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium with streaming access following, comes full circle from our first 1997 CBC-TV production at the same location. Along with the posterity, the show demonstrates our love for community, music, and action raising money for the Canadian Red Cross and their emergency management fund. The perfect storm of love!

Tom Jackson, C.C., LL.D.

Nationally sponsored by Canada Life — the 27th year of their support — the pre-holiday concerts feature an evening of original music, sing-along tunes, and signature Christmas music from master storyteller, Tom Jackson.

Confirmed artists set to appear include Measha Brueggergosman, Andrea Menard, Beverley Mahood, Loreena McKennitt, Natalie MacMaster (remote recording), Shannon Gaye, PIQSIQ, Halifax Camerata Singers, Honour Guard for First Responders, with guest hosts from CTV/CW “Sullivan’s Crossing” cast members.

The concert will be recorded for December viewing/streaming with public access to view until January 1, 2024. Broadcast partners to be announced.

The Canadian screen legend, whose credits include North of 60, Shining Time Station, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Law & Order, Red Earth Uncovered, Outlander, and Cardinal, has equally balanced a long career in acting and music.  In 2018, he released The Essential Tom Jackson, a two-disc, 21-track retrospective, and in 2021 was compelled to pen a new song, “Lost Souls,” after the remains of 215 children were found on grounds of the former Kamloops Indian Residential School.

Since 1987 Tom has raised funds and awareness for local food banks and family service agencies via his Huron Carole and Singing for Supper Christmas concert tours. In 2020 and 2021, The Huron Carole “toured” virtually by Zoom for various agencies as they searched for creative ways to connect and remedy a dramatic loss of donors.

Also in 2020, he produced and hosted the online variety series Almighty Voices, in which artists and thought leaders delivered performances and messages to create joy, health, and dollars for Unison Benevolent Fund, which provides emergency relief services to the Canadian music community.

In 2022, Tom spent time in the Maritimes shooting a new series, “Sullivan’s Crossing” released in 2023 and available on CTV.ca and The CW network.

Appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2000, in November 2020 Tom was promoted to Companion, the highest designation within the Order. Additional honours including the 2007 Juno and Gemini humanitarian awards, Playback’s Radio & Television Hall of Fame, and the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement.

Tom Jackson was recently awarded The Order of the Red Cross in recognition of outstanding humanitarian service at home and abroad. Jackson became an official ambassador for the Red Cross during the 2013 floods in AB and has helped with the organization’s relief efforts during AB and BC wildfires, the Humboldt bus crash, the COVID-19 pandemic, and Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis, to name a few.

Jackson was also named to Calgary’s Top 7 Over 70 for continuing his philanthropic work via new music and video projects.
