Gulliver’s Travels’ 1971 album Om. is often cited as a pioneering example of plunderphonics—a genre built on sampling and repurposing existing audio recordings. While some consider it the first of its kind, Om. undeniably laid the groundwork for what would later be expanded by artists like John Oswald, The Avalanches, and DJ Shadow. The album played a crucial role in shaping the genre long before it gained mainstream recognition.
