Brooklyn-based Cypriot singer-songwriter Bella Litsa is an artist in every sense of the word. Raised in a household steeped in classical music, she began studying piano at the age of seven and quickly discovered her deep love for singing. Her creative world is shaped by both the intimate and the infinite, blending personal experience with a fascination for the surreal, the philosophical, and more. Whether immersed in the surrealism of Tarkovsky, Bergman, and Lynch, or delving into the mysteries of quantum physics, Litsa’s artistry is fueled by passion and mysticism. Today, she unveils her new single, “Never Ending Movie,” via Records Man, Records—a track written as an ode to Rachmaninoff.
Marrying vintage romance with cerebral textures, Litsa’s lush and distinct vocals are the star of the show, accented by soft percussion and choral echoes billowing in the background. What started as an exercise in songwriting quickly became one of Litsa’s most fun songs to make.
Of the song’s meaning, Litsa shares, “Rachmaninoff’s music for me has always transcended the cerebral, making my life and what it comes with, feel like a fantasy, like a movie. I wanted to celebrate that feeling of eternity in a song. Music is a miracle, art is a miracle, and it’s miraculous because it is a mystery, and yet there’s no need to question it. The chorus is an interpolation of the B section from Rachmaninoff’s Prelude in G minor. And somehow, even though this is a piece over 100 years old, the chorus manages to really strike people in modern times. I think that’s all Rachmaninoff though, his music transcends time, feeling always from the future.”
Bella Litsa is the solo project of cinematic art-pop artist Isabella Komodromos. Crafting intimate, lush, and emotionally potent songs that echo with dreamlike intensity, she draws comparisons to artists like Lana Del Rey, Fiona Apple, and Weyes Blood. Her sound, blending vintage romance with experimental textures, where haunted Americana meets minimalist futurism, is a vessel for connection and catharsis. “Bella Litsa is my sadness personified. It feels like the closest I can get to my shadow, consciously.” Litsa’s music is a search for stillness, beauty, and peace in an ever-shifting world.
