Spotify’s 2025 Canadian Global Impact List: Tate McRae, Drake, and The Weeknd Dominate Worldwide

Spotify is proud to release its Canadian Global Impact List for the first half of 2025, highlighting Canadian artists whose songs were in heavy rotation among listeners outside their home countries.

This half, Canada once again proves its strength as a global cultural exporter, with  3  of the top 10 most-streamed international artists hailing from Canada. From DJs sharing their unique sound to chart-topping female superstars, Canadian talent is taking centre stage.

  • Tate McRae is reaching new heights for Canadian women in music, with her tracks “Sports car” and “Revolving door” both landing in the global top 10. Since her debut in 2020, Spotify has played a key role in amplifying her music around the world. From her first EP, All the Things I Never Said, which surpassed 400 million streams on Spotify by November 2021, to the exclusive listening party Spotify hosted in February for her third studio album, Think Later, and naming her Spotify Canada’s EQUAL ambassador in 2023 – spotlighting her as part of a global initiative to foster equity for women in music – Spotify has been there throughout her journey, supporting her growth and rise onto the global stage.
    • And it’s not just Tate. In 2024, more than 40% of Canadian artists who earned over $1M on Spotify were women or members of mixed-gender groups. Canada ranks among the top global markets for female representation among its highest-earning artists on the platform.
