Los Angeles-based artist Ana Luna has unveiled her latest single “Dance in a Trance,” a poignant and immersive track that blends emotional storytelling with haunting sonics. The release builds on her genre-defying catalog and follows singles like “Oxytocin” and “Why Not,” continuing her evolution as a rising voice in alt-pop.
“Dance in a Trance” is built on dreamlike melodies and introspective lyrics, delivering a snapshot of heartbreak that feels personal yet universally resonant. “A caged romance, I danced in a trance,” she sings—one of many lyrical moments that reveal the song’s delicate balance between vulnerability and empowerment.
Ana explains: “People will interpret my songs however they want, but this one wasn’t about making anyone the bad guy—it was very much about me. I’d run into my ex and he wouldn’t even look at me… The line ‘a caged romance’ came from something he once said to a friend of ours about feeling ‘caged’ or trapped, which ironically, is how I felt too.”
With roots in Ukraine and Paris and now thriving in LA, Ana Luna draws from a rich emotional and cultural palette. Her music blurs the lines between dream pop, alt-rock, and soul-searching ballads, often using songwriting as therapy. “Dance in a Trance” offers a lens into memory, identity, and personal healing—a recurring theme as she works toward her debut album.
