ABSINTHE GREEN offers an unflinching exploration of joy and sorrow, destruction and creation, intimacy and intensity with the release Of Love and Pain . The devoted followers who sing and scream along with bands like Halestorm, Evanescence, and The Pretty Reckless are already finding things to love about Absinthe Green, who offer a unique take on the genre.
The band made Of Love and Pain with Finnish producer Hiili Hiilesmaa, whose credits include work with HIM, Amorphis, The 69 Eyes, and Apocalyptica.
Absinthe Green is synonymous with singer, songwriter, and producer Eirini Papadopoulou, who first conceived it as a personal project while living in Germany in 2016. After returning to her native Greece in 2019, she joined forces with Harry Mason (drums), Villy Pirris (bassist), and later, Panos Economakis (guitar).
Together, they have carved out a style that defies easy categorization, blurring the lines between hard rock, metal, and alternative. Their music is emotionally charged, unflinching, and deeply personal. One critic rightly described Absinthe Green as “a melodic storm of beauty and heartbreak, both ferocious and tender.”
Artist Statement — Absinthe Green on Of Love and Pain
“At last, Of Love and Pain is here. This album is a vessel for my experiences, woven from love, grief, defiance, and redemption. Yet it is not only born of sorrow; within its depths there is also humor, playfulness, and the strange joy of turning darkness into sound. I wanted to create something
alive, an album I cherish performing on stage, where vulnerability and strength can coexist and where even pain carries its own peculiar beauty.
I am profoundly grateful to the amazing Hiili Hiilesmaa, who understood my vision and helped shape it into something timeless. My thanks extend to my extraordinary bandmates—Harry, Villy, and Panos—each of them a force unto themselves, who believed in me and my mad ideas and made them shine brighter. And to Geegor, our sound engineer and in truth the fifth member of this band, whose dedication and artistry gave this record its beating heart, I am endlessly thankful. And also to our wider team, whose faith, hard work, and spirit carried us through this journey and helped us bring this music fully into being.
What began in 2016 as a solitary project has grown into something far greater: a band, a family, a gathering of kindred spirits. Together we have forged a sound that resists simple definition—both fierce and fragile, shadowed and luminous, where heavy guitars entwine with haunting melodies and voice becomes confession.
Of Love and Pain is more than a debut; it is an invocation. It speaks to those who understand that joy and sorrow are inseparable, that creation rises from ruin, and that even in darkness, a spark of laughter can flicker like a candle in the night. This is our truth, and now it is yours.
With a lot of Love, and a considerable amount of Pain,”
