MTV’s Liquid Television debuted in 1991 as a late-night laboratory for wild, unfiltered animation. Running until 1995, the show stitched together shorts, experiments, and emerging creators whose work didn’t fit anywhere else. It became the launchpad for cult icons like Beavis and Butt-Head and Æon Flux, setting the stage for the future of adult animation and avant-garde pop culture.
