Americana Standout Taylor Rae Releases Her Vibrant Cover Of “Althea” From Her Album ‘The Void’

Austin based artist Taylor Rae releases her warm and spirited cover of the Grateful Dead classic “Althea”, arriving as a bonus track from her album ‘The Void’, out now. Produced by Grammy winning artist and producer Eric Krasno, the song glows with a fresh sense of ease and musical chemistry. Rae shares, “Recording ‘Althea’ was a bit of a game-time decision during the week of tracking, but with Eric producing, and being one of the best guitar players out there, I couldn’t pass up the chance to collaborate on it. I’ve been covering this song with my band for nearly a decade, and it just felt right in the context of this album. It brings a little breath of fresh air to the collection.”

‘The Void’ builds on the acclaim of her debut ‘Mad Twenties’ and expands her range with roadhouse roots rock, modern folk, blues, alternative tones and analog Americana. Recorded at Krasno’s studio in Pasadena, the album moves through personal reflections, new love and profound emotional shifts. Songs like the “swampy country funk” of “Maybe I’m The Villain”, the bluesy sway of “Cologne” and the road bound glow of “Telluride” featuring Sierra Hull have drawn praise from Holler, Magnet Magazine and Relix. Her standout SXSW debut led NPR Music to name her among the Best of SXSW 2025 and Austin Monthly to spotlight her as a Must See Local Artist, marking a powerful moment in her rising journey.
