Wolf Alice Release New Single ‘White Horses’ From Their Album ‘The Clearing’

Wolf Alice release their soaring new single ‘White Horses’, the latest glimpse into their upcoming album ‘The Clearing’, out now. It is the only song on the album to feature drummer Joel Amey on lead vocals before he and Ellie Rowsell lift into a glowing duet. Joel says he was inspired by the “sonic shapes” already forming on the record but wanted to anchor them with a driving krautrock beat. Lyrically, the song reflects on his family and the search for identity after discovering his mother and aunt’s adoption histories. Years spent touring the world blurred his sense of home, but he says he realised his chosen family was the band around him, a sentiment that shaped the heart of ‘White Horses’.

Recorded in Los Angeles with Grammy winning producer Greg Kurstin, ‘The Clearing’ shows where Wolf Alice stand in 2025: bold, emotional and bursting with ambition. The album follows the critically acclaimed singles ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’ and ‘The Sofa’, shared shortly after their triumphant Glastonbury performance. Described as a modern pop rock record with a timeless streak, it blends playful and serious tones while nodding to the 1970s without ever stepping out of the present. With Rowsell’s poetic storytelling at the center and the band’s renewed sense of clarity, the record captures the moment of stepping out of the chaos of your twenties and finding focus again.

Ten years after emerging from North London’s scene, Wolf Alice stand at a generational peak. From the Grammy nominated debut era of ‘Moaning Lisa Smile’ to the Mercury winning ‘Visions Of A Life’ and the UK chart topping ‘Blue Weekend’, the band have grown into artists of rare influence. They have played globally, shared stages with Harry Styles, and topped festival lineups including Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Glastonbury. With ‘The Clearing’, Ellie, Joff, Theo and Joel offer a portrait of a band stepping into a new decade with wisdom, ambition and unstoppable creative fire.
