Foo Fighters fever has officially hit Tasmania, as Frontier Touring confirms that the band’s one-night-only UTAS Stadium show on Saturday, January 24th has sold out in record time. Fans from across Australia snapped up tickets for what is gearing up to be the hottest show of the summer, marking the largest influx of concertgoers Launceston, and Tasmania, has ever seen. This performance will be the band’s first in Tasmania since 2015 and their first ever in the city of Launceston. Dave Grohl noted that they looked at the calendar and thought, “Let’s pop down for a gig,” despite being literally “flying down for 48 hours” before blasting out three hours of music.
Adding to the celebration, the rock legends will be joined by two acclaimed rising Aussie bands: Brisbane’s Full Flower Moon Band and Launceston trio Spooky Eyes, who will take the stage in front of the biggest audience of their careers. The sold-out show reaffirms the band’s status as one of the world’s greatest stadium live rock acts, following their previous stadium sell-outs in late 2023 in support of their 11th studio album, But Here We Are. Across 14 visits to Australia, the Foo Fighters have developed a reputation for delivering unforgettable, high-octane shows in both major capitals and regional centres, accumulating over 1.8 million records sold and nine No. 1 albums in the country.
This Tasmanian performance comes ahead of the group’s massive 2026 global tour, which sees the Foos headlining venues throughout North America and Europe. The band recently released their new song, “Asking for a Friend,” which features a darker melodic approach than the smash hit “Today’s Song,” with hypnotic opening verses that build and explode into impassioned refrains. The record-breaking sell-out in Tasmania underscores the deep and special relationship the Foo Fighters continue to share with their Australian audience.
