Mumford & Sons are continuing their incredibly prolific songwriting streak by announcing their sixth album, Prizefighter, which is set for release on February 13th via Glassnote Records, a mere seven months after their #1 album RUSHMERE arrived in March 2025. To celebrate the news, the band has shared the title track, “Prizefighter,” a song written alongside two heavy hitters: Justin Vernon and The National’s Aaron Dessner. Dessner, who previously worked with the band on their Wilder Mind record, co-produced and co-wrote the entire new collection, capturing the band at their most open and instinctive.
The sessions for Prizefighter were remarkably quick and communal; the band wrote more than an album’s worth of songs in just ten days, reflecting a collection that feels deeply personal and unguardedly communal. Marcus Mumford’s lyrics on the new tracks grapple with themes of resilience and striving. This energized and rejuvenated feeling is reflected across the 14 new songs, which were born from days spent writing in Hudson cafés and nights around Dessner’s Long Pond kitchen table, resulting in tracks “alive with first takes and the joy of simply making music together again.”
That communal spirit extended to the studio, too, with Mumford & Sons welcoming an impressive list of collaborators for the album. The Prizefighter sessions feature guest appearances from artists like Hozier, Gracie Abrams, Chris Stapleton, Gigi Perez, and Dessner himself, underscoring the band’s commitment to connection in their music.
As they share the new track, the band is wrapping up their lengthy U.S., Europe, and U.K. arena tours, concluding tonight with a second night at London’s O2. Looking ahead, Mumford & Sons will headline BST Hyde Park in London next July—their first return to the park in a decade—with support from The War On Drugs.
