Bob James and Dave Koz release an acoustic rendition of “Sunny Side Of The Street,” bringing a nearly century-old standard into a stripped-back, digital-first setting. The recording features only piano and saxophone and previously appeared as a bonus track on the CD edition of their 2025 duets album ‘Just Us,’ which began as a small living-room collaboration before expanding into a full-length release. The pair marked the album’s arrival with a performance at the GRAMMY Museum and a short run of live dates.
Originally written in 1930 by Jimmy McHugh and Dorothy Fields, “Sunny Side Of The Street” has been interpreted by artists including Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, and Dave Brubeck. James and Koz’s version stays intentionally minimal, aligning with the approach of ‘Just Us,’ which was recorded live without overdubs. A televised special filmed at their sold-out May 2025 performance at Myron’s at The Smith Center in Las Vegas is scheduled to premiere on Vegas PBS, with additional broadcast airings throughout the week.
