London and Hertfordshire-based band Oh Doom! share their most expansive release to date with “Distant Ghosts,” out now via Socks On Records. Blending post-rock, shoegaze, and post-hardcore, the nine-minute track unfolds slowly, opening with eerie noise and hushed guitars before building into a towering surge of distortion and layered vocals. Written as a continuous arc rather than a traditional structure, the song traces the emotional weight of a relationship unraveling over time, capturing the quiet pull between loss, memory, and resignation.
Recorded with dark electronic producer Cresil, “Distant Ghosts” marks the band’s second release from the session, with a strong focus on vocal harmonies and atmosphere. The band leaned fully into experimentation during the recording process, allowing the track to grow to its full length without compromise. Alongside work on additional songs “How To Destroy Anything” and “I Am An Iceberg,” Oh Doom! continue releasing music on their own terms, shaping a body of work that values patience, scale, and emotional depth over convention.
