Dublin-born and London-based outfit Music City adds a bold new chapter to Ireland’s rock legacy with the release of their hook-driven single “Common Sense” featuring Tina Halladay of Sheer Mag. This swaggering anthem serves as a primary look into their debut album ‘Welcome to Music City’ which arrives February 6, 2026, via Redundant Span Records. Songwriter Conor Lumsden, known for his work in The Number Ones, captures the raw spirit of garage rock through a riff designed to mirror the unfiltered joy of a first electric guitar. The track utilizes muscular rhythm sections and chiming guitars to build a wall of sound that supports a high-energy vocal performance. This recording is a glorious celebration of power-pop aesthetics and punk-fired execution.
Music City has recently sharpened their live performance on tour supporting The Lemon Twigs across Europe, alongside previous runs with Parquet Courts. The upcoming album documents a constant struggle between hope and disappointment, translating the highs and lows of modern life into eleven tracks of wry storytelling and stacked harmonies. Lumsden’s compositions have earned international attention from platforms like WFMU and BBC 6 Music, building on the cult success of the earlier single “Pretty Feelings.” The band is currently scheduled for a February headlining tour with stops in London, Manchester, and a homecoming show at The Grand Social in Dublin.
