Australian indie-rock sensation Courtney Barnett returns with the announcement of her highly anticipated new album ‘Creature of Habit’. Scheduled for release on March 27 via Mom+Pop, the ten-track LP marks her first proper studio collection since 2021. The album features the previously released single “Stay in Your Lane” alongside a brand-new collaboration titled “Site Unseen”. This latest track is a duet with Katie Crutchfield of Waxahatchee and arrives with a music video directed by Juliana and Nicola Giraffe.

The creative process for the new single involved multiple attempts over two years to capture the perfect sound. “I tried 3 separate times over 2 years to track this song, and each time it either wasn’t finished or didn’t sound right,” Barnett shared. She eventually recruited Crutchfield to provide a specific high harmony she had envisioned for the final version.

To celebrate the release, Barnett will embark on an extensive North American tour divided into two major legs. The first leg begins May 1 in Austin and includes stops at iconic venues like the Ryman Auditorium and Nashville’s Tabernacle. A second leg follows in August, hitting West Coast markets including Seattle, Portland, and Los Angeles. Fans in Toronto can catch the performance at History on May 22. This tour represents a major return to the road for the artist following her 2021 instrumental project with Stella Mozgawa.

The ‘Creature of Habit’ tracklist promises a cohesive journey through Barnett’s signature observational songwriting style. Songs such as “Mantis”, “Sugar Plum”, and “Another Beautiful Day” round out the LP. Tickets for the upcoming tour dates go on sale this Friday, January 23 through major ticketing platforms. This new era for the Melbourne musician further cements her status as a definitive voice in modern indie rock.
