Adjustments Trace Intimacy And Tension On New A-Side “Yr New Shoes”

Manchester-based slowgaze trio Adjustments return with their new single “Yr New Shoes,” reflecting on lovers’ petty arguments and tender reconciliations. Built on grainy guitar shocks and softly chiming garage indie textures, the track is paired with shared A-side “Moon Eyes” and released on pale blue marbled vinyl via Heaven’s Lathe. The release follows the band’s late-2024 debut AA-side “Bendy A / Who You Want,” which introduced their bass-free lineup and emotionally direct songwriting.

Recorded at Manchester’s Airtight Studios with engineer and co-producer Seadna McPhail, the songs expand on Adjustments’ lo-fi, slowgaze palette through layered guitars and shifting dynamics. Guitarist Finn Cohen-Ennis explains, “Yr New Shoes is inspired by jangly guitar pop like early My Bloody Valentine, Ex-Vöid and The Pastels, blending sweet melodies with noisy guitars.” Flipping the record reveals “Moon Eyes,” which Cohen-Ennis describes as “darker tonally,” leaning into contrasts between quiet and loud, distance and intimacy, mirroring the emotional range of personal relationships.
