Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter announce a string of headline dates in the UK and EU, including a performance at Roadburn Festival. The tour supports ‘Forever, I’ve Been Being Born’, released on Southern Lord in the USA and Ideologic Organ in Europe. The album was in the making for ten years and centers around Jesse Sykes’ transcendent voice and guitarist Phil Wandscher’s playing, which masterfully frames the songs with classic and fractured tones. The record dwells in themes of magical thinking, emotional dislocation, death and transformation through masterful, emotive songwriting.
Sykes describes the album as “our attempt to create elegant folk and sometimes ragged, cosmic, heart-rendered songs full of eulogies and laments. Our sound is still familiar enough, but unrecognizable at times—we’ve gotten older and wearier, the music more fragile.” When recording began, Sykes told the band to “play the songs as if the edge of a butterfly wing was brushing against your cheek in the dark while you’re holding a small child.” The tour dates run as follows:
04/16/26 – Botanique – Brussels
04/17/26 – Roadburn Festival – Tilburg
04/19/26 – Chapel @ Angel Microbrewery – Nottingham
