Costco Tightens Returns Starting Now

Costco Wholesale Corporation is making two notable shifts in 2026, tightening enforcement around returns while accelerating its push into digital ordering.

The company’s “100% Satisfaction Guarantee” remains in place, but warehouses are reportedly monitoring return patterns more closely. Enhanced membership verification and digital tracking allow managers to flag frequent or high-value returns. Electronics continue under the established 90-day window, yet enforcement appears more consistent.

At the same time, Costco is phasing out paper order slips for custom cakes and deli trays. An integrated system inside the Costco app will allow members to select sizes, flavors, designs, and inscriptions digitally. CEO Ron Vachris described the initiative as part of a broader shift toward a more streamlined, digital-first experience.
