Belfast post-punk and electronic duo CHALK return with ferocious new single “Tongue,” out February 13, the final preview of their debut album ‘Crystalpunk,’ arriving March 13 via ALTER Music. Rooted in the experience of growing up in the North of Ireland, the record captures national identity, tension and youth through industrial dance-punk energy.
Produced by Chris Ryan alongside Ross Cullen, mixed by Scott Desmarais and mastered by Chris Gehringer, “Tongue” pulses with unease and momentum. Cullen explains, “For the demo, I sang the opening few lines of the song on my earphones microphone and that take made it to the final version. I had to whisper because my girlfriend was sleeping beside me. There was something ominous about the track and felt like it would be the beginning of something.”
Spearheaded by Cullen and Benedict Goddard, CHALK have already shared singles “Pain,” “Can’t Feel It” and “I.D.C.” to strong support across BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and KEXP. Following festival appearances at Glastonbury Festival and Bilbao BBK Live, and supports with Fontaines D.C., IDLES and Sprints, the band step into 2026 with SXSW appearances and their biggest UK and Ireland headline run to date.
