Pop Star and New York Times Bestselling Author David Archuleta Releases the Deeply Personal DEVOUT EP

David Archuleta releases his DEVOUT EP on March 27, a three-song collection written specifically to accompany his New York Times bestselling memoir DEVOUT: Losing My Faith To Find Myself. The EP is available for pre-order now, and the memoir is already dominating the top spot on Amazon’s Pop Artist Biographies and Popular Music Books charts.

The DEVOUT EP is stripped back and raw, placing Archuleta’s voice front and center as a musical companion to the book’s themes of deconstruction, healing, and self-acceptance. Focus track “Old and Young” explores the disorienting limbo of emerging from a major life change, feeling older in experience yet newly inexperienced in living authentically. It is one of his most vocally intimate recordings to date, deliberately echoing the sound and emotional approach of his earliest work as a young musician trying to figure himself out.

The memoir itself is a significant piece of writing. Archuleta rose to national fame at seventeen as runner-up on American Idol Season 7, but behind that public story was a deeply private one. DEVOUT traces his journey as a closeted Mormon teen turned international pop star, navigating faith, fame, emotional abuse, three engagements, a two-year missionary sabbatical in South America, thoughts of suicide, and ultimately his decision to leave the Mormon Church and live openly as a queer man. He came out publicly in 2021 and has since become an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community.

Paula Abdul, who witnessed his American Idol journey firsthand, described watching Archuleta come into his own as “one of the most inspiring transformations I’ve ever seen.” The EP captures that transformation in musical form, raw, honest, and grounded in a voice that has only grown more expressive with time.

Since his debut single “Crush,” Archuleta has released eight studio albums, twenty-four singles, and built a global audience of 2.7 million monthly Spotify listeners. DEVOUT marks a new chapter that is entirely his own.
