Y’allternative Trailblazer Timmy Skelly Ignites A New Era With His Out Now Single “Nowhere Land”

Timmy Skelly returns with a bold creative spark on his out now single “Nowhere Land”, the first look at his new chapter with Live2 and Neon Gold Records. Following his breakout Dive Bar Sermon EP and major festival moments at Boston Calling, Wonderfront and Bonnaroo, the rising artist steps into a vivid new world shaped by storytelling, nostalgia and pure sonic atmosphere. Co produced with Noah Ehler, the track marks the beginning of his second EP, Meet Me in Nowhere Land.

Timmy shares the story of how “Nowhere Land” came to life during a winter escape to the snowy mountains of northern California. He says, “Noah and I were listening to a lot of The Band when we left LA to write and record our first full length project together. We rented an airbnb in the snowy mountains and set up shop. The airbnb had our only non negotiable asset, an upright piano. Nothing in the house was designed for recording.. we loved it.” They filled the space with drums, string instruments, a wood furnace and a glowing Christmas tree as the music began to unfold.

He explains how the song became the foundation for the entire project. He says, “Nowhere Land was the first record we stumbled into. It started as a rowdy tribute to a night out and kind of became the establishing atmosphere for the entire project. We wanted backing vocals that sounded like Crosby Stills and Nash, we wanted a chorus that stomped like a drunken mass on a wooden bar floor, and we wanted to get into a new zone to end the song, something epic, something anthemic.” Timmy describes their shared belief that world building is essential in songwriting and that this track opened the door to the universe they wanted listeners to enter.

Timmy calls his self created genre Midwest Y’allternative and paints it with vivid detail, describing it as “a bit of everything I grew up on, including cornfields, lakefronts, my Dad’s red 79 Volkswagen bug playing Tom Petty and country radio, tall tales by the firepit, Friday night football, whispered prayers, frozen kisses and the smell of Halloween.” His music brings those images to life through anthemic choruses, textured instrumentation and stories shaped by memory and place.

His earlier Dive Bar Sermon EP built the foundation through collaborations with James Flannigan and Noah Ehler. Timmy says, “I’ve learned a lot while working in bars. I’ve learned even more while drinking in bars. This record is for all those lessons, those sermons from the good book of the neon church. Best enjoyed with a cold beverage or a long cool drive.” With “Nowhere Land”, he amplifies that world with even more passion, grit and imagination.
