Great American Ghost release their stunning cover of the Deftones classic “Hole In The Earth” from the 2006 album ‘Saturday Night Wrist’. The track channels the emotional weight of the original while injecting a fiery post hardcore pulse that reshapes the song with sharper edges and explosive energy. Harrison says, “‘Hole in the Earth’ was our first and only choice when we decided to tackle a Deftones song. Not only is it our collective favorite by one of our biggest influences, but the subject matter really resonated with us at the time of recording.”
Since emerging from the Northeast in 2012, Great American Ghost have carved a fierce path through their albums ‘Everyone Leaves’, ‘Hatred Stems From The Seed’ and ‘Power Through Terror’, the latter landing on RIFF’s 60 Best Metal Albums list. Their 2022 ‘Torture World’ EP earned praise for its intensity, and touring alongside The Ghost Inside, Alpha Wolf and Fit For A King fortified their reputation as one of heavy music’s most relentless bands. Signing with Sharptone Records led to the creation of their 2025 album ‘Tragedy Of The Commons’, produced by Will Putney, a project that pushed their sound into thrilling new territory.
With “Hole In The Earth”, Great American Ghost channel admiration, emotion and lived experience into a bold reinterpretation of a fan favorite. The band’s connection to the song’s themes deepens its impact, resulting in one of their most powerful recordings yet and a heartfelt tribute to one of their most important influences.
