The iconic psych-folk band Midlake has released their eagerly awaited sixth studio album, A Bridge To Far, available now on Midlake Records. Produced by Sam Evian at The Echo Lab in Denton, TX, this cinematic meditation on hope and creative renewal is a magnificent return, following 2022’s For The Sake of Bethel Woods. The album is instantly heralded by the striking lead single “The Ghouls,” a track that proved the spark for the band to continue moving forward with a renewed sense of shared purpose. As Eric Pulido affirms, “This album is less about referencing someone else’s sound and more about sounding like us,” resulting in a collection that is both atmospheric and deeply grounded.
This stunning new work, crafted in sessions that were instinctive and unforced, sees Midlake return with their most distilled and individualistic songs yet. The album title and track “explores the hope, belief and ultimate path to something or somewhere greater, despite the circumstances,” says Pulido. A Bridge To Far features spectacular contributions from special guests, including Madison Cunningham, Hannah Cohen, and Meg Lui, whose vocals lend further warmth and nuance to the sound. After two decades, Midlake’s shared connection remains their greatest strength, making this album a powerful testament to the bond of a band that dares to believe in something just beyond reach.
