Cardboard Sessions return with Episode 29 featuring Dweezil Zappa, out now, and marking the first session in the series to be mastered in Dolby Atmos. Recorded at Zappa’s own Hikari Studios, the performance captures a fully immersive approach to sound, placing movement, space, and texture at the center of the experience. Zappa embraced the cardboard instruments with curiosity and focus, shaping a session that feels playful, intentional, and deeply musical.
The track “Man Your Stations” was written specifically for Cardboard Sessions, designed around musicians moving through the room, shifting instruments, and interacting with the environment as part of the composition. Cardboard instruments anchor the performance, while surrounding guitars, keyboards, and drums expand the sonic field. The result is an inventive, energetic moment that highlights Zappa’s creative spirit and perfectly reflects the open ended philosophy that defines Cardboard Sessions.
