The Black Crowes drop a new studio album titled ‘A Pound of Feathers’ on March 13, following their busy past few years highlighted by high-profile tours and 2024’s ‘Happiness Bastards’. Helmed as always by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, the band recorded the 11-track album in Nashville with GRAMMY-winning producer Jay Joyce, launching the announcement with pre-release tracks “Profane Prophecy” and “Pharmacy Chronicles.” Chris Robinson describes the quick creation: “We made this record in eight to ten days. Bringing the high and inspiration from Happiness Bastards into this album, it was a natural progression. We experimented more, we wrote on instinct and how we were feeling in the moment. Rich brought a spontaneity to the record that I can’t describe, but it’s the best shit he’s ever done.”
Rich Robinson adds context to the album’s creative approach: “This album feels transformative to us. Going back to our roots, we felt that spark in the studio and how we work together. Lighting a fire that hits harder, more jagged but is still true to our musical essence.” The speed of the recording process clearly worked in the band’s favor, capturing raw energy without overthinking the material. After decades together, the Robinson brothers continue finding new ways to channel their blues and rock instincts into something that pushes their sound forward while staying rooted in what made them essential in the first place.
