Across 12 tracks, ‘sounds for someone’ reflects on family, absence, and emotional inheritance, building on the foundation established by Elmiene’s earlier releases while marking a clear new phase in his songwriting.
Speaking on the album’s title and intent, Elmiene says, “I’m a firm believer in ‘the songs belong to you until you release them’… it’s up to people to experience and listen to in their lives, whatever they may be.” The project follows a period of high-profile performances and releases, including his single “Cry Against The Wind,” appearances at the BET Awards and Roots Picnic, and a widely viewed NPR Tiny Desk Concert.
